FIELD: crude oil treatment and petroleum processing.
SUBSTANCE: invention, in particular, relates to treatment of heavy high-viscosity crude oil or liquid hydrocarbon residues from refineries for their further deeper processing. Process comprises desalting and dehydration step and transportation of dehydrated crude oil into fractionation process. Before desalting and dehydration step or immediately after the same but before fractionation into commercial products, high-boiling fraction with boiling point 340-360°C and higher is recovered. This fraction is used to produce heavy commercial products such as bitumen, pitch, and coke. Separated lighter part of crude oil rich in desired fractions and depleted of harmful impurities is sent to further processing to produce light products. Preferably, high-molecular high-boiling fraction recovery step is combined with cracking of starting feedstock.
EFFECT: improved economical characteristics of petroleum distillation process.
