RIVET FOR PRODUCTION OF PERMANENT JOINT Russian patent published in 2005 - IPC

Abstract RU 2261374 C2

FIELD: aircraft engineering, applicable in other branches of national economy for production of permanent joints.

SUBSTANCE: the rivet has a rod of composite material with fibers oriented in the axis of the rivet, it is provided with an envelope in the form of a bush of prepreg allied to the components of the compound fibrous material to be joined, its fibers have a high specific shear strength after polymerization and oriented in the axis of the bush, having a length larger than the thickness of the components to be joined (by the height of the tapered section of the rod head), for formation of the insertion head from the envelope, as well as a fluoroplastic shell. The rod is made of material, whose fibers have a low hardness with a tapered head on one end. The rod is installed on a fluoroplastic shell in tight contact with it. The fluoroplastic shell is installed in the mentioned bush located in the tapered head. The outer diameter of the bush equals the diameter of the tapered head of the rod. The method for production of a permanent joint consists in placing of the rivet in the hole of the components to be joined. The rivet is installed in aligned holes of the components to be joined (skin and stringer) of the aircraft structure not having two-sided approach (simultaneously to the insertion and locking heads) to the rivet seam, applying adhesive composition on the outer cylindrical part of the envelope. The rivet head is formed from the inner side of the components to be joined by drawing the rod upwards, fixing the bush end by thrust ring and deformation of bush prepreg by the taped rod head, the fluoroplastic shell is removed from the rivet rod. After polymerization of the prepreg, from which the rivet bush is made, and adhesive composition, the longitudinal fibers of the projecting rod is impregnated by adhesive composition, and for the closing head in the cold state.

EFFECT: enhanced adaptability to manufacture and reliability of the permanent joint of the rivetted joint obtained in production of aircraft structures of polymeric composite material or in their repair with operating or fighting damages.
