FIELD: electrical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: proposed converter designed to supply with power field windings of medium- and heavy-power synchronous machines from 380 V, 50 Hz three-phase supply mains has ac voltage rectifier, off-line voltage inverter built around inverse diodes, power transformer provided with primary winding as well as with first and second coils of secondary winding, high-frequency rectifier using bridge circuit arrangement, driver incorporating electrical isolation device that functions to generate rectangular-waveform current pulses of desired frequency and length varied depending on output parameter, and LC filter of ac voltage component across inverter input. Novelty is that newly introduced in converter are thyristor semi-bridge whose common lead is connected to transformer secondary winding coil, anode and cathode, to like-polarity leads of high-frequency rectifier, and control junctions of semi-bridge thyristors are coupled with additional leads of driver affording generation of additional control signal to switch converter over to field current boosting mode.
EFFECT: reduced power loss, size, and mass.
