SUBSTANCE: invention relates to manufacturing silicon powder or silicon melt designated for manufacturing alkyl- and arylhalogensilanes with granulometric value below 5 mcm and comprising particles of size less 5 mcm in the amount less 3 wt.-% but mainly less 2 wt.-%. Silicon powder or silicon melt powder is prepared by grinding powder to the granulometric value less 350 mcm, washing out with water, settling and drying. Applying this powder provides enhancing the yield of reaction.
