FIELD: nonferrous metallurgy; production of magnesium by electrolysis of fused salts.
SUBSTANCE: the invention is pertaining to the field of nonferrous metallurgy, in particular, to production of magnesium by electrolysis of fused salts and processing of the saline wastes formed in the process of production of magnesium. The method of processing of saline wastes of magnesium production includes a mixing of the waste electrolyte and a slime of the carnallite chlorinators in their molten state, cooling and crushing of the mixture. At that the mixing is conducted in the settling chamber of the chlorinator, and the electrolyte is added in the settling chamber of the chlorinator at the ratio of the slim to the electrolyte equal to 1 : (1.5-4.0), and at constant stirring using a bubbling by a compressed air. The electrolyte is added at the temperature of 600-800°C ensuring decrease of the cost of the waste materials utilization and reduction of expenditures.
EFFECT: the invention ensures a decrease of the cost of the waste materials utilization and reduction of expenditures.
