SUBSTANCE: proposed double-layer fractional-slot (q = 1.5) three-phase winding has pole pairs 2p = 4c and slots z = 6cq accommodating 6c coil groups of double-coil odd-numbered and single-coil even-numbered ones; slot pitch of concentric windings yc ≈ z/2pc. Coil pitch of double-coil groups ypi = 3.1 with turn number wc, (1 - x)wc, and that of single-coil groups, yp = 2c(1 + x)wc turns, where c = 1, 2, 3 ... is integer number, z = 9c, yc = 1.5q - 0.25 = 2, and wc is turn number in each slot at x = 0.58.
EFFECT: improved composition of harmonic magnetomotive forces and reduced differential dissipation.
