FIELD: electrolysis production of aluminum; devices for breaking electrolyte crust in aluminum producing electrolyzers.
SUBSTANCE: proposed method includes impact action of punch on electrolyte crust at simultaneous application of pressing force of 300-1000 kg. Device proposed for breaking the electrolyte crust includes self-propelled trolley with vertical frame mounted on its side and provided with boom which may be hoisted, lowered and extended forward and vibrating hammer; counter-weight of 500-1000 kg is secured on trolley on side opposite to frame. Proposed device reduces time for treatment of electrolyzer end faces by 2-3 times.
EFFECT: enhanced efficiency.
