FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: method involves measuring substance concentration in surrounding air. Excessive reduced concentration of given xenobiotic substance Cred is determined as Cred = MPCwz(0.011φzi+0.022)- MPCip, where MPCwz is the maximum permissible concentration in working zone air, φzi is the MPCwz excess on lower boundaries of 3.1-3.4 classes taken from table 1, MPCip is the maximum permissible concentration in inhabited places air corresponding to normative documents. Damage to population health Dpop caused by given xenobiotic substance is calculated in days per person as Dpop=[1-exp(a*(Csur- MPCip))b]*365N, where Csur is the xenobiotic substance concentration in surrounding air in mg/m3, 365 days is the reduction coefficient for making transfer from relative damage to absolute one within a year, N is the population. Empiric coefficients a and b are found by means of calculations done for given xenobiotic substance using least squares method based on relation Dzi=[1-exp(a*(Csur- MPCip))b]*365 and damage to population health caused by CO in the environment is calculated in days per person as D={1-exp[a*(0.147CCO- 0.43)b]}*365N, where CCO is the CO concentration in the surrounding air in mg/m3, a=-0.0145, b=1.51.

EFFECT: high accuracy in quantitatively estimating damage to population health.
