FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: method involves sorting young deer antlers with respect to their masses, alternating heating and cooling periods, suspending tips, ventilating with air. Preserving process begins not earlier than 5 h later after the moment of cutting. The young deer antlers are sorted by mass into three groups. Raw materials belong to the first group if one antler weight is less than 0.4 kg; to the second one if one antler weight is 0.4-0.75 kg; the third on has antlers heavier than 0.75 kg. Heat treatment is carried out at heat carrier temperature equal to +66°C during 3.5 h. Cooling treatments are carried out by applying blowing procedures using cool air of 0-+2°C to +4-+8°C during 3 h at a speed of 15-20 m/s. The number of heat treatment procedures is equal to 6 for antlers of the first group; 8 for antlers of the second group; 10 for antlers of the third group. Temperature control inside of young deer antlers supports the level of +51=+52°C. Heat carrier temperature is reduced depending on antler drying degree from +66°C to +52°C. The young deer antlers are kept with their stumps turned upward on shelves at an angle of 10-12° during the first three heat treatments; in horizontal position during the following two heat treatments; then they are hold at an angle of 25-30° with their stumps turned downward. When cooled, the young deer antlers are kept in horizontal position. They are rotated about the stem axis by 180°. Tip roundness is achieved by smoothing and pulling skin from the upper part towards the base of a young deer antler after each heat treatment procedure. Internal temperature in a young deer antler reaching 53°C and primary raw material mass reducing below 54%, heat treatment is stopped.
EFFECT: high quality of the young deer antlers; intensified young deer antler preservation process.
