FIELD: mechanical engineering; internal combustion engines.
SUBSTANCE: invention is designed for suppressing exhaust noises in internal combustion engines. Proposed muffler has rectangular housing, inlet and outlet branch pipes, longitudinal partitions forming labyrinth passage with inlet, intermediate and outlet channels. Partitions are interconnected by bridges and are provided with shelves forming slot channels with housing walls. Bridge forms port with muffler housing which connects elbows of gas passage. Inlet and outlet elbows of gas passage are interconnected by slot channels, and ribs are made in bridge. Inlet branch pipe can be arranged in center of muffler. Gaskets of noise absorbing material can be placed in end faces of housing.
EFFECT: possibility of effective use of muffler volume for resonant damping of noise.
