FIELD: engine engineering. SUBSTANCE: silencer has a gas receiving pipe which is connected with an internal combustion engine through a manifold. The gas receiving pipe is connected with the exhaust pipe through the intermediate pipe. The pipes have noise silencing inserts and form passage-swirler with them. A passage splitter is mounted along the axis of the insert. The noise silencing inserts are received in the pipes and form acoustical chambers. Exhaust gases alternatively flow through the silencing inserts and acoustical chambers and are separated into individual streams. The streams are then mixed to silence the peak pressure noise. EFFECT: enhanced silencing. 3 dwg
