FIELD: transport engineering. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to mufflers furnished with means for cleaning and neutralization of exhaust gases by catalytic conversion of toxic components of exhaust gases. Invention is designed preferably for use on trucks and buses. Proposed exhaust gas muffler-converter has bell arranged in intake chamber and secure in partition and housing for reactor arranged in outlet chamber and secured in chamber. Intake branch pipe is installed in pipe, and outlet branch pipe, in wall. EFFECT: improved service characteristics of exhaust gas muffler-converter at simplified design and reduced cost of manufacture owing to rational organization of gas flow and optimum arrangement and making of main elements. 4 dwg
