SHELTER OF BLAST AREAS BY MATS OF TIRES Russian patent published in 2005 - IPC

FIELD: mining art, applicable in mining of hard rocks in restricted conditions, when it is necessary to exclude scattering of the blasted rock mass.

SUBSTANCE: the shelter is made in the form of a single-layer mat placed on the surface of the area to be blasted, it is composed of interconnected automobile tires. The mat is fastened with the aid of cables or chains attached to the anchors installed in not deep holes on the surface of the bench. Part of the single-layer mat is placed on the slope and bottom of the bench to be blasted so that the foldings on the lower and upper shoulders of the bench would fall on the joints of separate tires of the single-layer mat, and 1-2 tires would be placed on the bench bottom.

EFFECT: enhanced safety of blasting due to prevention of scattering of rock pieces under the bench slope.
