FIELD: protective coatings.
SUBSTANCE: method comprises vacuum-plasma deposition of multilayer coating under nitrogen atmosphere and is realized as follows. First, basic layer of titanium-zirconium nitride TiZrN 2 μm thick is deposited using two composite Ti-Zr cathodes of titanium alloy. Then, intermediate titanium-zirconium nitride layer 2 μm thick using two composite Ti-Zr cathodes is deposited. Higher titanium-zirconium nitride layer 2 μm thick is deposited using one composite Ti-Zr cathode.
EFFECT: increased efficiency of cutting tool and improved working quality.
