FIELD: radio electronics; high-power source of high-frequency electromagnetic waves in short-wave part of extremely high-frequency band.
SUBSTANCE: proposed orotron has electron gun, collector, periodic structure disposed between electron gun and collector, open resonator incorporating flat mirror whose surface carries periodic structure, and focusing mirror disposed opposite flat mirror at distance shorter than focal length. One of resonator mirrors has opening for energy output. Orotron also has one or two reflectors of which one is disposed at gun end and other, at collector end of periodic structure above flat mirror at desired angles to this surface. These angles are chosen so as to ensure that diffracted beam resulting from interaction between electron current and high-frequency electromagnetic fields in periodic structure radiated at angles to the latter close to 0 and 180 deg. and reflected onto focusing mirror in direction parallel to open resonator axis.
EFFECT: enhanced generated wave power and device efficiency in short-wave part of extremely-short waveband.
