FIELD: radio-electronics; high-power sources of high-frequency electromagnetic waves.
SUBSTANCE: proposed orotron designed for operation in superhigh-frequency and extremely-high-frequency wave bands has magnetic focusing system, electron gun, electron collector, open cavity formed by two mirrors of which one is flat mirror fixed in position and other is focusing mirror installed for displacement in direction perpendicular to flat mirror; it also has periodic structure made in the form of relatively parallel projections and disposed on flat mirror, as well as electromagnetic-wave energy lead provided in flat mirror of cavity. Electromagnetic wave energy lead is disposed at distance D from center of flat mirror chosen from condition 0 ≤ D ≤ 1.7Rc, where Rc is radius of caustic surface on flat mirror, distance ρ between center of flat mirror and symmetry axis of focusing mirror being chosen from condition ρ ≤ 0.3 Rc.
EFFECT: enhanced microwave output power and efficiency.
