METHOD OF FORMING SOWN ASSOCIATIONS OF LONG-ESTABLISHED HAY FIELDS AND PASTURES Russian patent published in 2006 - IPC A01B79/02 

FIELD: agriculture and forestry, in particular, improvement and creation of pastures and sown long-established hay fields on arid and semi-arid lands.

SUBSTANCE: method involves providing wide sowing of perennial lowland grasses and sowing of perennial hay grasses; forming herbage on pastures and hay fields, including floodplains, with identical productive longevity, maximal yield approach time and simultaneous approach of phase when respective feeding value of grasses is developed being taken into consideration; mowing herbage during two first years; using pasture by feeding cattle during subsequent 5-7 years; at second year of lifetime of sown grass associations, after mowing of vegetative mass, sowing more of perennial lowland grasses at seeding rate 30-45% lower than basic seeding rate; at third year, during early spring period and further in each two years, sowing more of cereal grass mixtures at seeding rates making 45-60% the basic seeding rate.

EFFECT: increased longevity of hay fields and pastures with improved feeding qualities and green mass yield.
