METHOD FOR EVALUATING FEEDING QUALITIES OF LONG-DURATION PASTURE ECOSYSTEMS Russian patent published in 2006 - IPC A01G7/00 A01C7/00 

FIELD: agriculture, in particular, plant growing.

SUBSTANCE: method involves sowing grass mixtures; forming agrophytocenosis from sown association of cenotically strong kinds of shrubs, subshrubs, and perennial grasses differing from one another in their activities during different periods of life; during creation of pasture ecosystems of spring-summer, autumn-winter and year-round utilization, setting by "envelope" method control and technological plots-oases with well eaten-up plants, medium-eaten-up plants and non-eaten-up plants, said control plots being fenced for preventing access of animals thereto; evaluating quality of created long-duration pasture by mowing grass from area of 1 m² from each of said plots at the height of 4-6 cm and weighing green mass, with following evaluation of dry substance; performing visual evaluation by simple comparing height of herbage on control plots and technological plots, with quantitative evaluation of Πi state of long-duration pasture being performed by calculating: where ΣM₁ is total weight of grasses mown from control plots, kg/m² of dry substance; ΣM₂ is total weight of grasses mown from technological plots, kg/m² of dry substance.

EFFECT: provision for operative and objective controlling of newly created and long-duration replacement pastures, increased yield and prolonged pasture utilization time.
