FIELD: railway transport; permanent way.

SUBSTANCE: proposed rail fastening unit contains pair of clamps 3 with first part made in form of pivot part 33 to rest on rail 1 and second part to bring into engagement of rail fastening device 4 connected to rail base 2. Clamp 3 is made for fixing in unit in preassembly position in which clamp 3 does not rest on rail 1. Unit is provided also with pair of electrically insulating end insulators 5, each insulator 5 being provided with space 51 for accommodating pivot part 33 of clamp 3. Clamp 3 is electrically insulated from rail 1. Insulator is fixed on pivot part 33 of clamp 3 by means of insulator locking device 34A, 34B made on pivot part 33 of clamp 3 which is bought into engagement with corresponding means made on insulator 5. Passage 45 is made in each fastening device 4 inside which second part of clamp 3 is arranged when clamp 3 rests on rail 1. Each clamp 3 is made of elongated plate to form C-shaped profile of plate central part 31. First end section of plate passes from one side of central part 31 and forms second part of clamp 3 made in form of base 32. Second end section of plate passes from opposite side of central part 31 and forms said pivot part 33 of clamp 3. Upper surface 441 of each fastening device 4 is provided with step 442 to engage with pivot insulator 5 to prevent accidental bringing the clamp out of fastening device 4 when clamp 3 does not rest on rail 1.

EFFECT: improved reliability of rail fastening unit.
