FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: method involves treating children according to five personality-oriented programs. The first and the second programs are applied in acute burn disease and stress stage, the third one in subacute stage of posttraumatic stress, the fourth one in chronic stage and the fifth one is applied in treating burn injury consequences. Each program takes age, patient health condition and state, psychological characteristics, leading and personality-significant psychic activity, development, burn and stress severity into consideration and comprises five units like diagnosis unit composed of acquiring and analyzing anamnesis data and revealing personality specific of a patient; directive unit is applicable for creating trust atmosphere by means of empathic listening approach showing compassion and empathy; information unit gives suggestion to recovery and interest in psychotherapy exercises; correction unit serves for releasing acute emotional experience, activating a patient, paving the ways for transferring injury events from subconscious sphere to conscious one, developing and shaping role position of a child for achieving recovery, doing exercises aimed at learning professional and working skills, increasing motivation to learning and personality development by applying music, games, art, fable therapy within the framework of emotional stress and short-term rational therapy. Muscle relaxation is applied and the child is mildly transferred into hypnotic state with curative self-suggestion formulas being said. Assessment unit comprises determining changes in emotional and psychological status, in degree of mastering and acquiring emotional response skills and mental stability. Program-to-program transition takes place on successfully achieving desired results done by a patient.
