FIELD: mechanical engineering; conveyors.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to drum drives of belt conveyors with increased traction capacity. Proposed drive of belt conveyor contains frame, drum mechanically coupled through reduction gear with motor over which conveyor belt passes and flexible belt arranged between cylindrical surface of drum and conveyor belt. Additional drum is installed in parallel with conveyor main drum, both drums being provided with gear wheels of equal diameter which are mechanically coupled through idler gear, and flexible belt is made in form of solid endless loop closed on both drums for engaging through outer side with roller and with deflection inwards the loop. Roller is furnished with tensioner to displace roller in vertical guides of frame. Idler gear is installed on axle-shaft secured on frame, and axes of idler gear and roller are arranged lower than axis of drums. Elasticity of flexible belt is equal to that of conveyor belt.

EFFECT: possibility of using drive for belt conveyors operating at brake and power modes at increased traction capacity of drive.
