BELT CONVEYOR INTERMEDIATE DRIVE Russian patent published in 1995 - IPC

FIELD: mechanical engineering conveyors. SUBSTANCE: intermediate drive of belt conveyor has drive member, pressure rollers engaging with non-working and working sides of conveyor belt, mechanism to press rollers to belt, and frame. Drive member is made in form of endless belt closed in vertical plate on two drums. Upper run of belt has chute-shaped convex section formed by chute roller supports secured on frame. Pressure rollers are displaced relative to drums towards drive belt circuit to provide combined deflection of conveyor and drive belts into drive belt circuit so that conveyor and drive belts are passed over drums and rollers can engage with edges of conveyor belt to form flat surface of the latter. Pressure mechanism is made in form of turnable levers with turn-buckles hinge-mounted on frame with rollers secured on ends of levers. Cantilever-mounted on roller turnable levers are lips inclined relative to conveyor belt plane with clearance relative to belt. Lips embrace rollers in plan at side of load placed on conveyor belt.
