FIELD: cutting of glass sheets having straight or curved surface, as well as cutting of glass sheets in straight or curved cutting line in commercial or domestic conditions.

SUBSTANCE: according to first version, method involves providing notch on glass surface along cutting line; initiating cracking along notch and breaking glass along cracking line. Initiation of cracking is provided by applying to notch formed on glass sheet of heated spiral made from electric wire and moving said spiral along notch. According to second version, method involves providing notch on glass sheet; applying glass to electric wires while aligning notch with electric wires, with number of electric wires constituting n±1, where n is natural value, and wires being laid on refractory dielectric plate, whose convexity conforms with that of surface of glass sheet to be cut, along predetermined geometric line corresponding to cutting line; initiating cracking by heating electric wires through supplying power thereto. According to third version, method involves initiating cracking by heating electric wires through supplying power thereto in predetermined sequence. According to fourth version, providing closed basic notch defining cutting line; forming additional notches at predetermined points along additional cutting lines on waste part of glass surface; applying glass to electric wires while aligning basic and additional notches with electric wires.

EFFECT: provision for cutting glass with even end shear section along cutting line defined by notch preliminarily formed by glass cutter in straight or curved line on smooth or curved surface.
