FIELD: processes and equipment for coiling rolled rods, for example of steel or non-ferrous metals.

SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of continuously feeding rolled rod through guide; deflecting rod at outlet of guide by angle to rotation axis; forming rod turns of variable diameters on curvilinear concave surface due to changing revolution number of guide; providing two freedom degrees of rod motion by action of dynamic forces and placing formed turns by horizontal layers along height of coil. Rod is fed at speed 1 - 300 m/s. At outlet of guide before supplying rod onto curvilinear concave surface, rod is deflected in space for providing angle 10 - 80° of projection of axis of outlet end of guide on plane passing through rotation axis of guide and outlet point of rod from guide relative to guide rotation axis and in plane normal to guide rotation axis angle 12 - 60° relative to radius passing from rotation axis of guide to outlet point of rod from guide. Apparatus for performing the method includes turn former having mutually joined guide and turn-forming head with guiding member in the form of concave disk with curvilinear outer surface, drive unit and conveyer for feeding turns to pit. Guide is bent in such a way that projection of axis of rod at guide outlet in plane passing through rotation axis of guide and outlet point of rod from guide is inclined by angle 10 - 80° to rotation axis of guide and in plane normal to rotation axis of guide - by angle 12 - 60° relative to radius passing from rotation axis of guide to outlet point of rod from guide.

EFFECT: possibility for forming regular helix form of first turn of coiled rod, elimination of emergencies.
