FIELD: machine engineering, possibly restoration or manufacture of machine parts and tools at process of automatic surfacing with use of open arc.
SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of spacing cutting tool from electrode by distance determined according to period of cooling surfaced layer till temperature value optimal for cutting. Working is performed by means of double-arm cutter whose cutting edge is imparted to reverse rocking motion along arc of circle with predetermined radius R1 equal to length of first arm of cutter. Length of second arm of cutter is determined according to expression R2 = = kfr R1 where kfr - coefficient of transformation of mechanical energy of linear motor. Cutting edge of cutter is inclined relative to line normal to straight line connecting rotation axis of part and rocking axis of cutter by angle γ = 90 - α/2 where α - angle of cutter motion stroke for one cutting cycle.
EFFECT: enhanced efficiency of mechanical working, higher strength of tool, improved quality of worked surface.
