FIELD: shipbuilding; designing, repair and modification of ships.
SUBSTANCE: proposed method is applied for modification of ship having hull with fore section , midship section with cylindrical insert and cargo holds divided by transverse bulkheads and aft section. Hull is cut into two parts which are drawn apart over length sufficient for additional module to be inserted; additional module is inserted at retaining deck level and freeboard of midship section and is connected with cut parts. Ship's hull is cut in area of cylindrical insert of midship section near transverse bulkhead between two adjacent cargo holds; additional module has the same width and shape of midship section insert. Additional module may be equipped with additional cargo hold. Fore section may be provided with thruster and outfitted with room for control of this thruster.
EFFECT: enhanced efficiency due to increased cargo holding capacity; facilitated procedure of ship modification.
