FIELD: draining the sub-base of roads or ballast way of railways, particularly culvert structures for motor roads with heaving bases and to design and build culvert and water control structures of irrigation systems built in heaving ground.
SUBSTANCE: pipe culvert comprises waterway formed of composite sections flexibly coupled one to another, gravel-sand bed located in inlet and outlet parts of the waterway, embankment made of loose earth, carriageway and fastening means adapted to connect inlet and outlet waterway parts by means of rock fill. Upper parts of the pads are covered with artificial filtering material, for instance with geotextile located under protective gravel-sand material. The pads are connected with discharge water receiving members having free volume of not less than volume of water leaking from the pads during frost penetration through the pads. The water receiving members extend over the pads and arranged beyond the designed frozen ground area near the pipe culvert.
EFFECT: decreased ground heaving over pipe culvert length along with provision of long ground heaving resistance, which provides structure workability over the total service life of culvert pipe.
