FIELD: recovery of solid radioactive wastes.
SUBSTANCE: proposed method involves deposition of coat for shielding surface of radioactive graphite waste against leaching. Prior to deposition of this shielding coat, steam void of radioactive graphite wastes is compacted by pyrocarbon injected through depth of minimum 3 mm. Pyrocarbon is produced by pyrolysis of gaseous hydrocarbons. Used as radionuclide leaching shielding coat is silicon carbide formed on surface of radioactive graphite wastes by reducing in silicon monoxide environment.
EFFECT: enhanced reliability and facilitated procedure.
