FIELD: rocketry.
SUBSTANCE: the simulator of the solid-propellant rocket engine for the initial phase of operation has a "cocoon" type body with front and rear pole orifices, charge simulator with a central duct fastened to the body. A solid-reactant gas generator with a casing, solid-propellant charge, charge igniter is installed in the central duct. The front "blind" section of the casing of the solid-reactant gas generator is positioned on a slide fit in the front pole orifice of the rocket engine casing. The rocket engine nozzle unit is joined to the flange of the rear pole orifice. The charge simulator is made of inert material with an adjustable density. The open end face of the casing of the solid-reactant gas generator is rigidly and hermetically fastened to the nozzle unit of the rocket engine through an adapter having the shape of a truncated cone, enveloping from the outside the inlet section of the nozzle of the nozzle unit. The equation of the ratios of the practical values of single impulses and consumptions of the combustion products of the charges of the real solid-propellant engine and simulator is provided.
EFFECT: reduced time of operation of the real solid-propellant rocket engine, provided simulation of the engine mass and overall characteristics.
