FIELD: automotive industry.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used at designing of external rear view mirror from driver's seat, when door is closed. Proposed external rear view mirror has support fixed on vehicle body. Body with reflector is connected with support by means of spring member with possibility of detaching. Reflector is provided with position adjuster relative to body and control member brought into vehicle saloon. Body and support joint unit consists of two support surfaces turned relative to each other through folding angle equal to 60°. Support surfaces are made smooth, with possibility of alignment at getting into engagement, until complete engagement in operating position, is obtained and spring member is made in form of two coil springs. Arrangement of springs and tension force are found from mathematical equations.
EFFECT: improved stability of holding mirror body in operating or folded position, reduced labor input in manufacture of mirrors.
