SUBSTANCE: method and device can be used for building completely new small-sized surface mounting automatic machines. Method of orientating articles of different shape when transporting them is based on delivering articles to surface of transportation from outputs of cassette filled with articles. After that articles are shifted to line sequence forming unit where articles are held from the moment of reception of line sequence t transfer elements by means of which the transfer of article of line sequence is performed to fix the articles onto common carrier. Articles are delivered by rejecting them onto surface of transportation into line sequence forming area. The mentioned area is disposed for shift along article line sequence to end position of mentioned line sequence. Orientation of delivered article is corrected by means of motionless guide which is orientated along formed line sequence and along linearly shifted surface of transportation. After that article is either subject to re-orientation due to decline or turn, or to immediate shift to position of architectural composition of formed line sequence where it is retained till reception and transfer of the article to common carrier for fixing.
