SUBSTANCE: according to method of transporting articles of different shape, line sequence of articles are formed and sequence formed is transported by means of damped surface of transfer elements to corresponding positions of common carrier. Before receiving line sequences, transfer elements are damped with water, for example. Process of damping of transfer elements disposed in vertical in form of discrete cylindrical surface, is carried out by rolling damped cylindrical surface down, which surface has capillary properties, onto damped surface of transfer elements, which is made for rotation. After that the excess moisture is removed from damped surface of transfer elements due to subsequent pressing damped surface of transfer elements out. Device for orientation articles of different shape when transporting them has article transporting surface above which surface the line sequence forming unit is disposed as well as line sequence reception and transfer unit for transporting onto common carrier in form of set of transfer elements provided with transfer element damping unit. Transfer element damping unit is made in form of cylindrical space filled with liquid. Closed surface with capillary properties is disposed at external and internal side of the container. Additional container for collecting liquid is disposed under cylindrical container, which liquid drains from external surface with capillary properties. Close to cylindrical container the additional container is disposed additional cylinder for rotation to squeeze excess moisture out. All the containers are functionally connected with tooth gear of transfer element set for rotation together.
