SUBSTANCE: method and device can be used for building completely new small-sized surface mounting automatic machines. Method of orientating articles of different shape when transporting them is based on disposing articles from forming line sequence for subsequent transfer of articles to common carrier by damped surface of subsequent transfer element set. Any transfer element is made for reciprocal movement to receive and to mount or to fix them at corresponding positions at common carrier. Any transfer element is able to turn around its position. Rotation of set of transfer elements is performed either at horizontal or in vertical plane. Common carrier is shifted line by line. Controlled shift of set of transfer elements along fixed line sequence of common carrier is performed as in direct and in reverse directions.
