FIELD: mechanical engineering; diesel engines; fuel systems.

SUBSTANCE: proposed fuel system of diesel engine designed for operation on dimethyl ether contains service cylinder, booster pump and high-pressure pump connected to nozzles of diesel engine, valves providing supply of liquefied ether to booster pump and delivery of ether from high-pressure pump to cylinder, respectively. Fuel system is furnished additionally with circuit for operation on diesel fuel. Said circuit contains service tank with valve connected to diesel fuel booster pump and to high-pressure pump, additional booster pump providing operation both on ether and on diesel fuel. Circuit contains also main line to direct diesel fuel from high-pressure pump into tank by means of valve and pressure regulator, electric mechanism shifting stop of control rack of high-pressure pump, depending on operation of diesel engine either on diesel fuel or on ether, and fuel system control unit. Said control unit contains timer providing time delay of switching on electric mechanism which control shifting of stop of control rack of high-pressure pump when changing over from operation of diesel fuel to operation on dimethyl ether, and timer providing delay of switching off of valve directing ether into cylinder when changing over from operation of dimethyl ether to operation of diesel fuel.

EFFECT: improved reliability and efficiency of fuel system.
