FIELD: metallurgy, namely steel production in arc steel melting electric furnaces.
SUBSTANCE: process comprises steps of supplying carbon containing materials and oxidizing agents onto melt through tuyeres arranged along perimeter of furnace; using materials containing calcium oxide as slag forming materials and using materials containing iron oxides and(or) gaseous mixtures containing oxygen as oxidizing agents; feeding iron oxides and(or) oxygen from gaseous mixture to furnace at relation of such components to calcium oxide (3 - 7): 1 at total flow rate of calcium oxide 3 - 15 kg/t of steel; adding carbon containing materials to bath at rate 4 - 10 kg/t of steel per min; setting quantity N of tuyeres depending upon melting mass according to formula: N = 3 + (0.03 x G -1) where G - mass of melting, t; 3 - minimum quantity of tuyeres for melting mass less than 50 t; 1, 0.03 - factors setting number of additional tuyeres in accordance with volume. Invention provides energy consumption lowered by 190 k Wt-h/t and melting process duration shortened by 9 min.
EFFECT: reduced costs for performing melting process.
