FIELD: mining, particularly machines for obtaining, or the removal of, materials in open-pit mines.

SUBSTANCE: cutting drum has cylindrical body with drive and is connected to mining machine by posts. The cutting drum is provided with disc rolling cutters arranged on line of rolling contact and with conveying augers extending from both ends thereof to drum center. Coils of each conveying auger face each other to divide the drum into two symmetric halves. Side drum surface defined by imaginary disc rolling cutter races includes cylindrical part and conical parts tapering towards outer cutting drum ends and adjoining the cylindrical part. Cylindrical part length is not less than 0.25 of cutting length H_c of material to be separated from rock. Working side surfaces of disc rolling cutters having wedge cross-sections and arranged on both cutting drum body halves in central cutting part thereof face opposite directions. Working side surfaces of disc rolling cutters having wedge cross-sections and arranged in both conical drum body parts face drum center. Both outer ends of cutting drum body are provided with disc rolling cutters made as free-cutting bits having wedge cross-sections facing outside.

EFFECT: possibility to perform continuous mining of rock characterized by increased rigidity.
