FIELD: metallurgy, namely article compaction by means of hot isostatic pressing in liquid phase, possibly in powder metallurgy and foundry for eliminating porosity of aluminum parts.
SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of placing article in heated liquid medium and acting upon it by pressure of piston whose one part is metallic compacting member; sealing cavity with liquid medium due to plastic deformation of compacting member by action of applied pressure; realizing said deformation due to action upon compacting member by means of other piston parts made of material having elasticity modulus and resistance against plastic deformation higher than those values of compacting member. Apparatus for performing the method includes piston having at least three parts. One part of piston is metallic compacting member.
EFFECT: enhanced operational reliability of apparatus, shortened time period of production cycle.
