FIELD: mechanical engineering; cranes.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to design of span beam for bridge and gantry cranes using load lifting trolley or telpher. Proposed beam has flat upper and flat lower bases in form of plates rectangular in plan and side walls in form of plates arranged with tiling relative to each other and coupled with said plates of bases to form trapezoidal section with smaller base in zone of lower plate. Beam is box-shaped weldment with width of lower plate smaller than width of upper plate. Diaphragms are secured inside space formed by side walls and bases. Width of lower plate is greater than length of smaller base of trapezoidal section in zone of lower plate to form webs for running wheels of telpher or load-lifting trolley. Width of upper plate is greater than larger base of trapezoidal section in zone of upper plate. Thickness of lower plate is minimum 1.5 times as great as thickness of upper plate and/or thickness of plates of which side walls are made.
EFFECT: reduced metal content of beam.
