FIELD: oil pollution removal.
SUBSTANCE: preparation of sorbent comprises mechanically disintegrating partially dehydrated sediment produced as waste in paper-and-pulp industry and drying thus obtained wet particles of sediment in hot (120-140°C) air flow followed by additional treatment of air flow-dried fibers at 174-178°C for 60-100 min. Sorbent is characterized by moisture content 1-3%, ashes content 5-15%, pH 6.5-7.0, abietic acid level 1-3%, volume mass 0.12-0.18 g/cm3, and water absorption capacity 0.5% for 2 h.
EFFECT: increased hydrophobicity of sorbent.
