FIELD: machine building.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to engineering technique, to processing of metals by pressing and cutting. A tap comprises cutting edges with chip grooves that are set on the last turn of the point and the first turn of the sizing part, in recesses between wings. The cutting edges are used to remove the most defective layer destroyed by wave generation at plastic deformation. An impulse unit of the tap drive comprises a rotary hydraulic motor made so that the output spline shaft is able of reciprocating rotary motion, an overrunning clutch with a chuck for quick-change tools fixed on it, is mounted on the said shaft. The said hydraulic motor comprises a striker and a waveguide blade which are made so that periodic impulse load produced by a hydraulic pulse generator can be applied to the tap.
EFFECT: higher quality of processed surface and improved efficiency of thread rolling process.
