PROCESS FOR STATIC-PULSE KNURLING OF THREAD BY MEANS OF FEMALE TOOL Russian patent published in 2006 - IPC B21H3/02 

FIELD: plastic metal working, namely shaping of outer threads by plastic deforming with use of female tool.

SUBSTANCE: process is realized at subjecting wave-guide of tool by means of striker of mechanic pulse generator to static and periodical pulse load. Wave-guide in the form of thread knurling ring embracing blank and having inner annular working threaded surface is used. Working surface has starting cone and cylindrical sizing portion. Thread knurling ring is movably mounted in housing due to using radial thrust bearing assembly arranged in periphery of ring and thrust bearing assemblies arranged in end faces. Housing with ring is mounted by inclination angle equal to thread lead angle of thread to be knurled relative to plane normal to lengthwise axis of blank. Height h of micro-irregularities at shaping outer thread is determined while taking into account pulse frequency, blank size and tool size according to given relations.

EFFECT: increased depth of strengthening at shaping outer thread, improved quality of thread having no waviness, enhanced efficiency of process.
