FIELD: metal continuous casting plants and processes.
SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of reducing cast ingot along its cross section at solidification of ingot in continuous casting plant. Guide abutted to mold includes large number of sections with paired rollers arranged one pair opposite other. One section includes wedge like mounted roller zones or groups of guides designed for changing thickness of blank with melt core. In zone having melt core of blank under first section behind mold, ingot is subjected to mini-reduction. Blank thickness is lowered due to wedge like mounting of guide rollers at smooth transition. Section for realizing mini-reduction includes at inlet side rotation center and actuating organs.
EFFECT: simplified design of plant, lowered cost of its maintenance due to reducing blank thickness only in one place.
