METHOD AND DEVICE FOR LABEL APPLICATION ON VESSELS BY SEPARATING LABELS FROM CONTINUOUS POLYMERIC TAPE Russian patent published in 2006 - IPC B65C9/00 

FIELD: packing equipment, particularly details of labeling machines or apparatus.

SUBSTANCE: method involves supplying label tape 7 from reel 6 to vacuum drum 14 surface; applying glue to tape surface; cutting the tape into separate labels; moving vessels 4 to label application positions; pressing the labels to each vessel and removing vessels 5 provided with labels from device. Label tape is cut in two stages. At the first stage the label tape is heated up to label material melting temperature along future cut line. At the second stage movement impulse is imparted to the label to move thereof in direction from remainder label tape at speed exceeding speed of taping label movement. Cutting means comprises two guiding rollers 18, 19. The rollers are arranged near the drum 14. Cutting blade is installed on the first roller 18 surface. Electric heater is arranged inside the roller. The second roller has surface adapted to contact with vacuum drum surface. The rollers have synchronized drives.

EFFECT: reduced time of label separation from remainder tape, elimination of tape movement stopping and, as the result, increased label application capacity.
