FIELD: metallurgy; methods of production of nickel and cobalt from nickel ores mainly of laterite type; methods of reworking of some wastes of productive solution of sulfuric acid leaching.
SUBSTANCE: proposed method includes varying of pH and addition of sulfide-containing component. Before sedimentation of nickel and cobalt sulfides, preliminary neutralization of pulp and reduction of Fe (III) to Fe (II) are performed at simultaneous sedimentation of admixtures in form of sulfides followed by additional neutralization and filtration of sediment. Sodium hydrosulfide is used as sulfide-containing reagent. Neutralization of pulp before reduction of iron is carried out to pH not higher than 0.8. Reduction of iron and sedimentation of admixtures are carried out by means of sodium hydrosulfide at pH=0.8-1.2.Additional neutralization of pulp is performed to pH=3.0-4.0. Sedimentation nickel and cobalt is started at pH=3.0-4.0. After sedimentation of sulfides, pulp is acidified to pH=1.8-2.2.
EFFECT: low cost of process; enhanced technology at complete sedimentation of nickel and cobalt.
