BUS ARRANGEMENT FOR ALUMINUM ELECTROLYZERS Russian patent published in 2006 - IPC C25C7/06 C25C3/20

Abstract RU 2282681 C1

FIELD: non-ferrous metallurgy; electrolytic production of aluminum in electrolyzers at longitudinal position in housing.

SUBSTANCE: bus arrangement of powerful aluminum electrolyzers includes two risers mounted on longitudinal sides of electrolyzer and two other risers located at inlet end face of electrolyzer cathode casing and two cathode sectional buses mounted on each longitudinal side of electrolyzer. Current from some cathode rods located on side of outlet end face of cathode casing is transmitted to risers located on longitudinal sides of next electrolyzer by means of cathode buses. Cathode buses transmitting current from electrolyzer cathode rods on side of inlet end face of cathode casing are located along transversal and longitudinal axes of electrolyzer under its bottom; they rise on outlet end face of cathode casing to level of metal and are connected with risers located on inlet end face of cathode casing of subsequent electrolyzer. Such position of cathode buses ensures optimal compensation for magnetic field and high magneto-hydro-dynamic stability (MHD) of electrolyzer.

EFFECT: increased productivity of electrolyzers of high unit power at high degree of distribution of electromagnetic force compensation in melt due to re-distribution of magnetic field.
