FIELD: metallurgy .

SUBSTANCE: lead of series coupling of electrolytic cells contains two posts, located in the middle of longitudinal sides of the electrolytic cell, and two other posts located at an input end of a cathode case of the electrolytic cell. Current from a portion of cathode rods of the electrolytic cell situated from the side of an input end of the cathode case is transferred via cathode bus bars to the posts, arranged at the longitudinal sides of the following electrolytic cell. The cathode bus bars transferring current from the cathode rods of the electrolytic cell from the side of output end of the cathode case are assembled along the cross and longitudinal axes of the electrolytic cell under the bottom of the latter, are raised at the output end of the electrolytic cell approximately to a level of metal and are connected to the posts located in the input end of the cathode case of the next electrolytic cell. Compensation of influence of the neighbour row of electrolytic cells is achieved due to transferring of a part of current from the cathode rods near the middle of the electrolytic cell to the opposite side of the electrolytic cell by means of the bus bar which runs under the bottom of the cathode case, then raises approximately to the middle of the metal level and returns under the bottom of the cathode case to the middle post of the next electrolytic case.

EFFECT: facilitates optimal compensation of magnetic field and high MHD stability of an electrolytic cell; increases efficiency of electrolytic cells of high unit power.
