FIELD: railway transport; dc motor-driven vehicles.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to starting and speed control devices of electric locomotives. When starting the electric locomotive, traction motors are regrouped so that first groups of series-connected non-switched over motors are connected in series, and pulse converter is connected in series with motors to increase fill factor to unity. Then magnetic flux of series-connected groups of motors is weakened, armature and field currents of motors are measured, and torque value is determined by value of field current and value of magnetic flux of motors by motor magnetizing curve. Basing on torque value and dependence of torque from armature current for one magnetic flux, value of motor armature current equal to field current is determined, motor speed is measured and, basing on motor field current, value of its magnetic flux is determined and motor electromotive force is calculated and new value of converter fill factor is found (calculated). Proposed task is solved by device containing first group of series-connected non-switched over motors connected by first output with contact system and second output through break contact of regrouping contactor with first output of second group of series-connected non-switched over motors equipped with pulse converters, each connected by input to second output of corresponding group of motors. Outputs of converters are connected in common point, each group of motors is shunted by back diode, and its field windings, by series-connected resistor and make contact of field weakening contactor. First output of second group of motors is connected to contact system and to break contact of regrouping contactor.

EFFECT: improved mass and dimensional characteristics of starting equipment, decreased number of used contactors for regrouping, improved reliability of system.
