FIELD: non-ferrous metal metallurgy, possibly processes for melting and refining cast magnesium alloys.
SUBSTANCE: flux for melting magnesium alloys contains next relation of components, mass. %: MgCl2, 34.0 - 42.0; BaCl2, 5.0 - 8.0; CaF2, 1.0 - 2.0; NaCl + CaCl2, 6.0 - 10.0; CdCl2, CdF2 and(or) ZnF2, 2.0 - 6.0; KCl, the balance. Flux features improved refining capability against slag and flux inclusions (flux corrosion).
EFFECT: enhanced operational reliability, increased useful life period of products of magnesium alloys.
