FIELD: electrical engineering; high-speed charging of sealed nickel-cadmium storage batteries.
SUBSTANCE: proposed method involves charging without boost pre-charge with asymmetric current having regulated amplitudes of anode and cathode currents, supplying one charge pulse to battery at anode current amplitude equal to 2.0 ± 0.3 of rated capacity and length of (210 ± 10) ms, as well as two next charge pulses in time interval of 2 to 3 ms. Each cathode pulse length is 8 to 12 ms at pulse-to-pulse space being 5 to 6 ms at amplitude ratio of cathode and anode currents being 4 ± 5 ; time space between second discharge and next charge currents is 2 to 3 ms for 60 -80 minutes. Charging process is ceased upon reversal of polarity of first voltage derivative (dU/dt) or upon build-up of final voltage across storage battery.
EFFECT: reduced charging time of storage batteries with their normal performance characteristics being retained.
