FIELD: electrical engineering; reducing battery formation and recovery time.

SUBSTANCE: proposed storage battery is charged with regulated asymmetric current, proportion of discharge to charge pulse amplitudes being 0.3-0.8 of rated capacity at charge pulse amplitudes numerically equal to 0.3-0.8 of rated capacity with charge pulse length of 220 ± 20 ms and discharge pulse length of 15 ± 5 ms, intervals between them being 0-2 ms; battery is charged until threshold value specified by Standard Specifications or relevant operating instructions is attained or until voltage across battery reduces by 15 ± 5 mV per cell after it crosses maximal value. Voltage across battery is measured during intervals between charge and discharge current pulses.

EFFECT: reduced time taken to place battery in operation upon long-time storage.
